In 1984 started the design and building of a huge research center equipped with the top of the art techniques that allowed the expansion of the applications of these technologies to all the branches of the economy and society, the Center of Genetic and Engineering was finally opened the 1st of July of 1986. Very fast the new Center grew in number and quality, new concrete results started emerging and it becomes in the leader flag of the Biotechnology in Cuba and all the Third World.

Very soon the products developed and produced by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology overcome the limits of the island and in 1991 Heber Biotec S.A., born from the laboratory, becomes in a specialized biotechnology enterprise with the aim of commercializing those novel products in the international market, sharing a message of health and welfare to other peoples of the planet. With the association between CIGB and Heber Biotec a complete cycle of research, development, production and commercialization of those biotechnology products becomes a dream come true. CIGB-Heber guaranties the purpose of having all way from the idea to the market.

Heber Biotec S.A. since the beginning in 1991 starts creating a solid worldwide network of partners and distributors that constitute one of it larger strength. Heber Biotec also has enrichment and diversified his product portfolio in 1999 the company added the products of the Placenta Histotherapy Center, a line of medicines and cosmetic products elaborated from human placenta.
